How does Reiki work?

We’ve talked about the ways that Reiki can support the healing process in life. The next logical question is… how?

Of course, there are scientific studies on the therapeutic benefits of Reiki that have been published in medical databases such as PubMed or Cochrane Collection. I’m also very excited to follow the Center for Reiki Research in the next upcoming years.

Can I tell you that Reiki is completely backed up by science? I wish I could.

Hopefully, you know that I am not a medical professional or scientist. I would describe myself as a highly sensitive person and this my personal understanding of the healing abilities of Reiki.

Let’s start off by refreshing ourselves on What Happens in a Reiki Session.

During a session, the practitioner opens themselves up to a specific healing vibration.

This vibration can be described as a feeling that is an extremely loving and safe energy; one that can nearly give you goosebumps it feels so comfortable.

In a Reiki training, certification course, or mentorship program, the practitioner learns to channel and hold onto this vibration for an extended period of time. With practice, the body remembers how to access this vibration and it becomes easier to attain and hold this state.

In a client session, the practitioner acts as an antenna for this energy, and with intention and focus, they are able to pass this energy to the client.

This healing energy allows the client’s body to deeply, deeply relax. This state of relaxation feels different than the rejuvenation that occurs when sleeping or meditating (both of which are also extremely vital to health).

This deep healing takes place every single time a Reiki session is performed either on yourself or from a practitioner.

The body is able to rest so deeply that I sense it boosting the immune system, regenerating DNA, eliminating toxins, and rejuvenating cells.

This seems to explain how Reiki aids the healing process for such a wide spectrum of conditions. I’m also a huge advocate for modern medicine, talk therapy, and many other healing modalities, but I see Reiki as vital support and assistance to the healing journey.

Not everyone may have this experience with Reiki. I offer this as my personal journey and feel a deep devotion to sharing this information with people that may need it.

As always, sending you love and Reiki ♡
