What is Grounding? signs you might need it
It occurred to me that the term “grounding” is thrown around a lot in the wellness industry, mostly without clear meaning or rationale behind it. Additionally, how we ground is different from person to person.
What is Grounding?
Grounding is anything that gets you out of your head and back into your physical body by connecting with one of the five senses (seeing, feeling/touching, smelling, tasting, or hearing).
Examples of Grounding Techniques:
Spending time in nature, cooking, showering, bathing, talking to a friend, using essential oils, doing the dishes, walking, yoga, exercising, dancing, singing, eating, drawing, painting, working with crystals, mindful breathing, meditation, playing with animals or children, and of course Reiki.
Hands down, my favorite way to ground is by practicing short self-Reiki sessions. Followed closely by time spent in nature.
What are Your Top Two ways that you Ground yourself?
If you don’t know, review the list above to see if anything sticks out to you.
It's so important to understand the ways you naturally ground yourself. You can increase your overall mindfulness as a person by intentionally implementing one of these practices when you are not feeling grounded.
How do you know when you're not Grounded?
Simply, you're not grounded when you're too much in your head. This might result in feelings of anxiousness, nervousness, stress, feeling spacey, brain fog, or overwhelm. These are all signs that you need grounding.
Truly one of the best forms of self-care is giving your body what it's asking for.
Short, frequent Reiki sessions offer the ability to manage your wellbeing and groundedness in a safe, healthy way with very little to no integration period. I updated the website recently to include Reiki packages if that's calling out to you.
